{South Carolina} A Classic Southern Engagement

Tell us your love story!  Chad and I went to high school together. He was a senior and I was a freshman. But we didn’t start dating until I was a senior. We started talking at a friend’s party one spring break and have been together ever since! We dated for three years and were engaged for one year before we got married.

How did he propose? Chad is not one of those mushy guys!  We went out one night — December 16th, 2010.   And when we got back, it seemed as though his dog had knocked our Christmas tree over.  It was on the floor with ornaments and lights everywhere.  I was so upset.  So we began to put the tree back up. He was on the floor handing me ornaments, and I (being the meticulous, OCD person that I am) was trying to put the ornaments back in their exact spot.  Well, as I was reaching down to get an ornament. I realized that there was no ornament in Chad’s hand.  Instead, he was on one knee and had the diamond (which he had hidden under the couch) in his hand. The whole thing was a setup, knocked over tree and all.  I was so surprised and speechless.  He wanted to do something original that I would never see coming, and he succeeded!
